Claude Desktop Configuration treerouter Tutorial (in testing)

⚠️ Important prerequisites (must read)
You must use the latest version of Claude Desktop: lower versions may not have the developer mode or third-party inference configuration entry.
It is recommended to stay logged out first: no need to log in to the official Claude account first. If you are already logged in, it is recommended to log out before configuring.
A third-party API that supports Anthropic-compatible must be used: a simple OpenAI-compatible interface may not work.
The Gateway base URL needs to be an HTTPS address: and the corresponding service needs to support the Anthropic Messages API, which usually means it can process /v1/messages requests.
This tutorial takes Windows as an example, and the screenshots are also the interface under the Windows environment.

Step 1: Open Claude Desktop and enable developer mode

Open Claude Desktop, do not log in to the official account first.

If it is not easy to directly click the menu on the current interface, you can press Tab on the keyboard to switch to the menu area in the upper left corner, and then press Enter to open the menu.

Select Help → Troubleshooting in the top menu bar.

Click Enable Developer Mode in the pop-up submenu.

After successful activation, an additional Developer menu will appear on the top menu bar.

Step 2: Enter the third-party API configuration page

Click the newly appeared Developer menu.

Select Configure Third-Party Inference….

Step 3: Fill in Base URL and API Key (the most crucial step)

After opening the configuration window, set it as follows:

Use this configuration: turn on the switch, it must be turned on.

Gateway: Select Anthropic-compatible.

Gateway base URL: https://4sapi.com

Gateway API key: Paste your API Key, which is the string of keys copied from the token management in the console.

Gateway auth scheme: Generally keep the default.

Gateway extra headers: Generally do not need to fill in.

After setting, click Apply locally in the lower right corner.

Select to restart the software

Select the first one

Select model

Step 4: Verify whether it is successful

After the configuration is complete, Claude Desktop may prompt to restart; if there is no prompt, it is also recommended to manually exit completely and open it again.
After reopening, enter Cowork, Code, or Projects related pages.
Enter a simple question to test.
If the model can respond normally, or the model provided by your third-party API is displayed in the interface, the configuration is successful.
